In the winter/spring of 2023, we partnered with The Charles River Conservancy to create an exhibition and auction to support teen artists and raise money for public art at Lynch Family Skatepark. Under the direction of our Program Manager, Jack O’Hearn, teens created their own unique works of art on upcycled skateboard decks. Through this program, teens learned various artmaking techniques; how to develop a concept and bring it to life; and how to professionally install an art exhibition in a gallery.

Another component of this project was a physical 3D model of the skatepark that O’Hearn created with the help of two teens. The model was used as an interactive display during a series of community forums centered around the future of the skatepark. During the making of the model, teens learned CAD software, where they created a small scale digital model of the park. They then learned to use 3D printers and laser cutters to create the physical model.
