“We, the artists and students…, created the Portraits of the Port Mural. .We want you to see different types of people in this community and how beautiful they are. We also want you to appreciate our hard work, skill, and talent as artists. We met and talked to community members, took their portraits, researched the history of the neighborhood, went on tours and site visits, met and conceptualized our ideas, and used Adobe Illustrator to create the final product you see today. In Portraits of the Port, you will see MIT students, Port residents, youth , teachers, politicians, and more, smiling and having fun. We feel blessed to live in such a diverse city, and we hope this mural conveys happiness and a sense of community.” - Quoted from mural
